High Schools

Act On Poverty Corp.(AoP) supports four alternative high schools in the Denver Metro Area:

  1. Eagle Academy High School
  2. Daniel C. Oakes High School
  3. Colorado High School Charter – Osage Campus
  4. Colorado High School Charter – GES Campus

Would you like AoP to expand to a high school in your area?   Would you be willing to help organize?   Please Contact Us!

Thank You Parker Task Force!

AoP has partnered with the Parker Task Force to support two alternative high schools in the Douglas County School System.   Friends of Eagle Academy was formed in 2019 and Friends of Daniel C. Oakes was formed in 2022.

Both Eagle Academy and Daniel C. Oakes High Schools are alternative high schools for students who have struggled in or dropped out of the traditional school system.  Both schools have top-notch teachers and staff and use hands-on instruction combined with small classes to succeed with the students.   Attendance, academic performance, and behavior are strongly emphasized and enforced at the schools. Students are strongly encouraged to be employed or involved in a vocational training program or a volunteer activity.  It is evident, working with the schools, how much they care about their students.  Graduates of both High Schools earn a high school diploma just like all other students in traditional high schools; they are not GED facilities.

Thank you Wellshire!

AoP has partnered with Wellshire Presbyterian Church to support two alternative high schools in Denver, Colorado.   The Friends of Colorado High School Charter (CHSC) program was established in 2022 to support deserving graduates in their post-secondary plans.

Targeted students are below or near the poverty line.  Ultimately, we hope to support graduates in establishing and flourishing in a career that will leave their poverty permanently behind.

Colorado High School Charters include two campuses: the original Osage Campus and the GES (Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea).

CHSC are Denver Public Charter School for high school-age students,. They offer the latest in educational strategies and opportunities.  CHSC prepares students for success after graduation in post-secondary schools, such as trade schools, community colleges, colleges, or universities. The CHSC campuses offer an environment dedicated to seeing their students succeed.  Students have the flexibility to learn through exciting technology, internships, work-study, and concurrent enrollment.
